and Fishing
On the estate of Schönbühel-Aggstein
one will find roe-deer, wild boar, mouflons, pheasants and rabbits
as well as wild ducks.
On a surface of around 1500 Hectars we shoot around
100 roe-deer, as well as 100 wild-boars and around 15 mouflons.
Hunting on estates such as Schönbühel-Aggstein,
is a necessary measure undertaken in order to regulate the populations
of various species and thereby ensure a healthy habitat for them.
Since natural predators such as the wolf or the bear have become
extinct in the region, the huntsman has had to take over as well
as he can.
If the populations of these species were not regulated
then one would find that overpopulation would lead to massive damage
to the vegetation in the area as well as the spread of a number
of diseases such as rabies for example.
Thus, it can be said that hunting plays an important
role in society as a whole.
